What Do I Do About Hypertension?

Problem: Most people with hypertension do not initially know how manage it.

Solution: This application was created to educate middle-aged hispanic men with hypertension by the University of Chicago.

This program walks men through what hypertension is, what its effects are, and some practical steps they can take to manage their high blood pressure.

Learn By Doing

Problem: Learning about the effects of hypertension is a bit dry.

Solutions: We added an interactive map of the body with colorful and fun animations.

Where's the fun if the narrator just drones on about the effects of high blood pressure? One solution is to give the user something to do. This was a great chance for me to do some cool illustrations, something that I hardly get to do enough of.

Scratching the Itch

Problem: I don't get to draw enough...

Solution: This project really let me scratch the illustration itch. It took a lot of research and looking, but I think I got the gist of what is happening to your body when it is hypertensive. The illustrations are probably not perfectly to scale and may not perfectly reflect reality, but they are colorful and I tried to make them vivid.

Graphic Quality

I've always loved illustrations with a graphic quality. I think the black and white duality along with the images sliding opposite each other are a great way to show the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods.
